After a horrible experience with a craiglists agent, I was skeptical about The Apartment People. However, I got paired with a wonderful agent named Claire McCord. She was really enthusiastic and helpful. I was working with a smaller budget and a huge dog, two things that can really impede finding a great place. Claire showed me three places, all within my budget. I found all of the folks at apartment people to be kind, prompt, and good at what they do. I would highly recommend working with Claire. Ilene, It is so much easier and more common to send a negative email or a complaint than it is to send a positive email or praise. I wanted to carve out the time to send you a note about my Agent Lynn Kummerer. I met Lynn back in 2009 when I first came to Chicago. An associate on my team at Sears Holdings recommended I use Apartment People to find a place downtown. I requested a ‘professional’ agent through your website and now, enter Lynn. We found a great place at 21 East Huron which I was very happy with until I moved to California and had to move. I was not a fan of California nor of my career choice to move, so I in fact moved back to Chicago and am working at Ulta Beauty in Bolingbrook. What is important to know, is that when I knew I was returning to the Chicago land area and needed to find a permanent home, a number of people recommended “their relator”. Not needed, I had Lynn Kummerer. Lynn could tell you; I am a no nonsense person. I am extremely demanding and very specific on what I want and won’t stop until I get it. Lynn and I had a quick debrief while still in California and she had me begin the loan approval process. Once I landed here and got settled in my temp housing we discussed what I was looking for – water view, 2 to 3 BR, High rise or walkup, indoor parking, a nice building and a fireplace if possible. One would laugh, but yes I wanted the world in a condo - all for a really inexpensive price. The first night Lynn and I went out and saw 6 places – I remember it being on a Wednesday. I then flew my mom in town to go see another 15 properties that Saturday. At dinner on Sat night we finalized our list to 3 and decided to bid on one. Negotiations ensued and we finally landed at an agreed price 3 to 5 days later. Lynn has always been a superstar and has always delivered, but here is where she over-delivered. I was taking a vacation in 2 weeks from my decision point for 3 weeks(11/7 – 12/4) overseas where cell and email service would be sporadic. She connected me with a mortgage company, a lawyer and we began the process while I was still in town. Once I left, I put my mom, and Lynn in charge of everything in my life. Lynn stepped up and masterfully managed my contract between the lawyer and the mortgage co (Guaranteed Rate) using emails confirming my acceptance and commitment terms. To keep the process moving forward and to get approved for my mortgage, everything needed to be positive and swift for an 11/28 approval. I knew I could travel during this very important time in life knowing Lynn had my file, has high intelligence and a strong sense of urgency in mind. Somewhere in the jungle in Nepal, I got a text from Lynn (after much scurrying with my mother and the mortgage company) saying my loan was approved. If you don’t know, please know, getting a text like this at a time where I being an executive, overseeing a marketing department at a multi-billion dollar retailer, is the most comforting, forward momentum feeling possible. Surely things at work are never that smooth, but this, being as important as it was, was well managed and flawlessly executed. I closed on 12/16 - 12 days after I arrived home. The entire process was easier for me than cooking a 3 course meal. The only reason being that Lynn Kummerer over-delivered. Everyone has choices when it comes to real estate and I’d venture to guess more so now than ever, given the poor economy. I would never have gone with another relator than Lynn. She is a consummate professional, keeps her clients focus in mind, is undeniably driven to deliver all while she is smiling and laughing. She has a strong sense of the market, and shares sound advice. I will continue to share Lynn’s contact information within the walls at Ulta as we always relocate as well as with real estate seekers in my life. Overseeing dozens of associates, I’d say having an associate like Lynn Kummerer on my team, I’d be extremely proud and for sure sleep better at night. 1/10/2012 Of the two apartment finder places I used, Apartment People was definitely better. I highly recommend Dave Croy, he listened to what I was looking for and took me to over 10 apartments in one day! Dave even came in on his day off to work me through the paperwork and show me my apartment. I've been here for over two months and absolutely love it. Apartment People was awesome! Specifically Trish San Juan. After going through hell the previous summer just trying to find an apartment in my hometown Pittsburgh, this search could not have gone more smoothly. Trish was responsive to every email and concern before I made my visit to Chicago. She was very diligent in considering my criterion, even knowing the name, distance and directions to the closest gym and grocery store from every apartment I looked at. Even more helpful, she was honest and straightforward in helping me shape my expectations. I may have been upset by the news, but I needed to know that matching my price range with in-room laundry and a lakeview balcony was a pipe dream. Every minute detail could not have gone more smoothly. I had three and a half days booked in the city to find a place and I was signing the lease within three hours. From an extensive filtering conversation and letting me know the intricacies of a brand new city to even bringing her own tape measurer, Trish couldn't have been more helpful. We are new to the city from the suburbs, and Trish was great about sitting down with us and really trying to figure out what would work best for us. We exchanged countless emails, phone calls, and met with her on three different occasions. She was easy to access day, evening, or weekend, and quickly got back to us with any questions we had.
